About Bob Eaton

For over 25 years, Bob Eaton has been bringing his distinctive pieces to galleries and events across New England. Bob’s specialized approach to sculpture and his raku firing techniques transform raw clay into works of art that come to life.

About Raku

Raku is a Japanese style low-fire pottery technique. The glazing of the pottery piece is conducted outside. The kiln is rapidly brought up to temperature (around 1900 degrees F).

Once the kiln reaches temperature the piece is pulled out of the kiln while the piece is still hot. The piece is then placed into a chamber with combustible materials. This process gives Raku glazes their unique colors.

Raku Sculptures

Bob is inspired by the world around him. He pulls inspiration from nature and ancient potters to hand-build his breath taking pieces.

This blowfish is a stunning example of the colors that Bob is able to pull in post fire reduction.

The World is not Perfect

{

The world is not perfect, and neither is the Raku process. We must find beauty in its flaws.
